Targeted space for utility products, solar, and student tools in Pakistan.

The second week of August 2026 was a pile-up of AI product news. If you only caught fragments on X or WhatsApp, this is the ordered list — newest first — with links to our full explainers.

19 August — Students and enterprises, same day

Google put a Student Hub inside Gemini and wrapped Search in quizzes, 3D study visuals, and Lens tutoring. Eligible college students can claim a free year of Google AI Pro (US) or AI Plus (Pakistan and 140+ markets). Full clicks: Google Gemini free for Pakistani students.

SpaceXAI put Grok 4.6 on Amazon Bedrock. Same model, AWS invoice. That is the enterprise story.

17–18 August — Cursor tries to host your git

Cursor Origin launched as a GitHub-compatible host for paid Cursor users. GitHub then spent hours degraded. The internet wrote the punchline; the product question is whether agents need a different kind of repo host. SpaceX had closed the Cursor acquisition three days earlier.

13 August — Google’s cheap, fast coder

Gemini 3.7 Flash landed three weeks after 3.6 Flash, with better coding evals and intro API pricing of $0.75 / $3.75 per million tokens until New Year’s Eve. Spark (Pro/Ultra) switched onto it. Gemini 3.5 Pro is still the missing flagship.

12 August — Grok 4.6 and Cursor, together

Grok 4.6 shipped with a claim that it ties GPT-5.6 Sol on the AA Intelligence Index at 61, at $2 / $6 per million tokens. Cursor enabled it the same day for long-running agents, with extra included usage for a week.

If you must choose one model to test, read Grok 4.6 vs Gemini 3.7 Flash first.

What this means in Pakistan

None of these launches were “Pakistan news.” All of them hit Pakistani keyboards anyway:

  • Students will search Google Gemini free for Pakistani students and Google AI Plus Pakistan.
  • Agencies will search Grok 4.6 price and Cursor Origin vs GitHub.
  • Backend teams on AWS will search Grok Bedrock.

Techlo.pk’s job on this category is the same as on LESCO slabs: translate the announcement into a decision. Which plan, which model, which thing to ignore until it leaves beta.

We will keep this news desk updated as Google, SpaceXAI, and Cursor ship follow-ups. RSS: /news/rss.xml.
